Position: Director of Secondary Currciulum
Supervisor: Executive Director
General Job Description: The Director of Secondary Curriculum shall perform such duties as delegated by the Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment. He/She shall be responsible for:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitates the development, implementation and communication of a shared vision of learning that reflects excellence and equity for all students throughout the school system.
- Promotes the development of organizational, instruction, and/or assessment strategies to enhance teaching and learning for all students throughout the system.
- Works with others to ensure a working and learning climate throughout the system that is safe, secure, and respectful of diversity.
- Fosters a culture of continuous improvement focused upon teaching and learning.
- Uses excellent management and leadership skills to achieve effective and efficient organizational operations.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate EPSS plans for secondary schools
- Facilitate Safe Schools Plans for secondary schools
- Align District Curriculum to state standards and benchmarks
- Liaison with PED on secondary issues
- Participate in District Level Leadership Team
- Coordinate District Professional Development
- Coordinate Carl Perkins Grant
- Assist with secondary Instructional Material adoption and implementation
- Stay current on educational research and initiatives
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or thier designee
Qualifications: Master’s degree in education, valid NM administrative license as required by the State of New Mexico, 5 years of experience in public school administration and supervision and/or teaching. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, kneeling, prolonged typing, physical ability to type on a keyboard terminal, and moving light furniture may be required.
Equipment/Technology Handled: Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.
Work Environment: Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. After hour work may be required.
Terms of Employment: Salary and work calendar established yearly by the district.
