Position:         Elementary Alternative Licensure Facilitator

 

Supervisor:    Executive Director of Human Resources

 

Description:     Responsible for facilitating the alternative licensure program for elementary teachers seeking an alternative license. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Comprehends the principles of NMTeach Domains, development and learning, and applies them appropriately.
  2. Communicate accurately and effectively in the program and maintain a professional rapport with teachers in the program.
  3. Mentor and provide effective observation and feedback to the teachers in the program.
  4. Utilize a variety of methods and resources for each area taught within the program.
  5. Utilize student curriculum, instruction and assessment techniques and procedures.
  6. Obtain feedback from and communicate with teachers in a manner that enhances learning and understanding.
  7. Manage the program classroom to ensure the best use of instructional time and promote positive student behavior in a safe and healthy environment.
  8. Recognizes student diversity and creates an atmosphere conducive to the promotion of student involvement and self-concept.
  9. Demonstrate a willingness to examine and implement change, as appropriate.
  10. Work productively with colleagues, parents, and community members.
  11. Follow board policies and administrative rules and regulations.

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Facilitate and provide professional development opportunities for classroom teachers by conducting formal workshops, group discussions and one-on-one mentoring in district-wide initiatives before, during and after school
  • Provide leadership and support to district Curriculum and PLC teams
  • Collaborate with principals to identify and coordinate learning opportunities for classroom teachers
  • Assist teachers in analyzing data to advise classroom instruction
  • Provide information in current trends in education that support the student learner
  • Recommend and demonstrate appropriate methods and materials to address differentiated instruction within the classroom
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop curriculum materials and lesson plans that integrate technology in Reading, Writing, and Math
  • Model effective instructional techniques including the integration of technology in Reading, Writing, and/or Math
  • Liaison with Elementary leaders to ensure vertical alignment
  • Accept other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the supervisor

 

 

Qualifications:     Level II or Level III elementary (PreK-8) teacher in the state of New Mexico.  5 years of successful classroom teaching experience, knowledge of effective literacy or math instruction. Knowledge of the Farmington Model of Instruction.  Ability to effectively co-teach and coach teachers.

 

Physical Requirements: Ability to perform the job and access the environment for which you are hired.  The following may be required: Sitting, standing, lifting, moving about the room or school, carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, kneeling, prolonged typing, physical ability to type on a keyboard terminal, and moving light furniture.

 

Equipment/Technology Handled: Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology. 

 

Work Environment: Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality.  Interruptions of work are routine.  Flexibility and patience are required.  Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision.  After hour work may be required. Work hours will be different from a teacher.

 

Terms of Employment: Salary and work calendar established yearly by the district.
