Job Title: AMP grant intervention specialist (for students with disabilities)
Supervisor: Director of Exceptional programs and high school administration in collaboration
General job description:
This up to five year, grant funded position will coordinate with multiple stakeholders in order to improve average daily attendance, graduation rate, and reduce truancy and drop-out rates and maintain the data to be reported. The position will also facilitate interventions to students, provide support and mentorship, and collaborate with school and district personnel to achieve the goals as outlined in the grant.
Contract length:
The first year of implementation, the contract will extend until June 30; the subsequent years will include an additional 10 days beyond the teacher contract days.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Assist in developing programs that assist in reduction of truancy and drop-out and increase average daily attendance and graduation
- Communicate accurately, effectively, and maintain a professional rapport with secondary special education students and parents
- Utilize a variety of culturally-responsive intervention methods and resources
- Identify students with disabilities at risk of dropping out
- Determine root causes for truancy/ dropout
- Maintain all data in a timely manner required by the grant
- Report to the EPO director progress towards goals per the grant
- Collaborate with school-site attendance liaison and district truancy liaison to Identify and incorporate high leverage strategies to increase daily attendance
- Work with classroom teachers in providing guidance to at risk SWD
- Collaborate with Special Education Staff as well as EPO personnel
- Collaborate with outside agencies to promote post school outcomes
- One on one meetings with students
- Develop strong rapport with students via consistent social emotional support
- Be available to students before, during and after school (as possible) hours
- Monitor students’ grades, attendance and behavior incidents
- Analyze Tutorial data in a timely manner and develop action plans
- Assist with credit recovery
- Participation in student review/ EWS meetings (weekly) with site staff
- Other duties as assigned by director of EPO or site administration per the requirements of the grant
Additional duties and responsibilities:
- Home visits
- Communicate with families
- Collaborate effectively with staff, administration, families, and post school agencies
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Attend IEP meetings and provide input to IEP development
- Collaborate with district transition specialist on work study programs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience in Social work preferred
- Experience with at-risk youth preferred
- May be a certified Teacher rather than social work background (if not currently certified, acceptance into the Alternative Licensure Program would be a condition of employment) Special education license preferred
