Position:       Lube Tech

 

Supervisor:  Shop Supervisor

 

General Job Description: Knowledgeable of automotive engines, diesel engines, power equipment and related vehicle equipment, use of tools and equipment utilized in the transportation department.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:(Duties are not limited to, but shall includethe following)

  • Responsible for changing oil & fluids on all district vehicles.
  • Performs safety checks on all buses and district vehicles as needed.
  • Inspects and makes minor repairs on all buses and district vehicles as needed.
  • Informs the Shop Supervisor about problems found on buses or district vehicles.
  • Shall report to the Shop Supervisor misuse or suspected misuse of district property.
  • Shall maintain an effective working relationship with district employees.
  • Have a positive attitude and communicate with students, parents, teachers, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Shall adhere to approved Board policy and administrative directives.
  • Sweep, empty trash and help clean shop area as needed.
  • Sweep and clean shop area as needed.
  • Answer telephones and radios as needed and to know daily operation of the Transportation Department and fill in as needed.
  • Prepare work orders.
  • Maintain records as needed Inventory and order parts as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Must be able to get Commercial driver’s license with-in six months of hire.
  • Will be required to drive bus and transport students as needed.
  • Work with Transportation Supervisor & Asst. Supervisor.
  • Become knowledgeable in state and federal requirements for Construction Standards and Inspections.

 

Qualifications:

  • Have a working knowledge of basic shop operations.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Pass pre-employment drug test.

 

 

 

Physical/Job Requirements:

  • The employee frequently is required to stand and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee routinely works from an upright standing position.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

 

Health and Safety:

  • Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.
  • Wear protective devices such as back supports, eyewear, and steel toe boots as job condition demands.
  • Complete all required safety training.
  • Knowledge of shop safety.

 

 

Equipment and Materials Handled:

  • Gasoline and Diesel Fuels.
  • Automotive Parts and Supplies
  • Must know how to properly operate and learn all multimedia equipment, and other current technologies.

 

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality.
  • Interruptions of work are routine.
  • Flexibility and patience are required.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision.
  • Maintain a positive rapport with employees and create a customer-oriented environment.
  • After hours, work may be required.

 

Term of Employment:

  • Twelve-month employee, eight hours per day.
  • Salary per district schedule.
  • Evaluation conducted annually.
