Position: Workforce Community Liaison

 

Supervisor: Secondary Curriculum Director

 

General Job Description: Under the direction of the Secondary Curriculum Director, the Workforce Community Liaison will implement and direct the comprehensive Work Based Learning program. The liaison will secure key partners in designated programs of study to provide high school students with robust career-based learning opportunities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

?  Recruit new businesses and organizations to provide quality work-based and school based learning opportunities for students; serve as the liaison between the district and business and industry.
?  Create high quality internship and job shadowing opportunities for high school students.

?  Leverage select partners to expand their reach within the career pathways work, including but not limited to, arrange and participate in a monthly speaker series about topics relevant to designated programs of study.

?  Assist the district director, school principals, district coordinators, and postsecondary representatives in defining needs, developing plans, establishing goals, and formulating policies and procedures for program development.

?  Maintain a current Advisory Committee listing (updated yearly) which includes contact information. Supervise and coordinate Advisory Committee meetings. Keep on file records of such meetings. Assist teachers with their Program Advisory Committees as needed.

?  Prepare and submit required reports and other documents; enter all Work Based Learning opportunities into PowerSchool at the end of each semester. Assist high schools with these procedures as applicable.
?  Assist in screening, interviewing, and selecting qualified students for work-based learning experiences.
?  Disseminate information on Work-Based Learning programs to employers, parents, teachers, students, and counselors.
?  Assist with career development of students through career clusters, extended learning opportunities, and employability skills.
?  Maintain an inventory of supplies and materials to support the Work-Based Learning programs.
?  Maintain professional development by participating in national and state organizations/associations, and attending conferences related to work-based learning.

?  Work with instructors to provide support in: employability skills, resume writing and interviewing skills.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
?  Communicate accurate and up-to-date information to students in a way that enhances student learning and includes demonstrating effective reading, writing and math skills and the use of standard English
?  Manage time appropriately and be available to parents, students, administration and peers as needed while maintaining open communication with administration and co-workers
?  Maintain accurate and complete records as required by the school district and take precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities
?  Use and apply appropriate conflict resolution skills and demonstrate public relations skills
?  Use diagnostic data to improve instructional programs
?  Follows all district protocols, practices and procedures
?  Act as a good role model within the context of the school

?  Accept other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the supervisor

 

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Experience in Career Technical Education preferred. Such alternative to the above qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

Physical Requirements: Ability to perform the job and access the environment for which you are hired. The following may be required: Sitting, standing, lifting, moving about the room or school, carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, kneeling, prolonged typing, physical ability to type on a keyboard terminal, and moving light furniture.

 

Equipment/Technology Handled: Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate multimedia equipment including current technology.

 

Work Environment: Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. After hour work will be required.

 

Terms of Employment: Salary and work calendar established yearly by the district.
